Metal Wrapped Carob Wood Mate Gourd with Pour Holes

An aluminum metal casing wraps this beautiful, medium size, wooden mate gourd, made of the carob tree which originates in the vast areas of the Argentine pampas. The color of carob tree wood varies depending on the type of soil this tree grows on. In the northern part of Argentina, you will find the carob tree wood to be a dark brown, in the Chaco province to be reddish and in the Litoral province to be yellow.

A very sturdy mate gourd, it also features special pour holes. Pour holes drilled into the top wooden rim of the gourd allow the mate drinker to add water slowly without disturbing the tea leaves.
