A traditional Argentine product, this Orieta Quince Jam or Dulce de Membrillo is a typical sweet spread or dessert traditionally eaten in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Argentina. It is a reddish, firm and sticky jelly made of the delicious fruit of the quince tree which is a relative of the apple and the pear. It is produced by cooking quince fruit, sugar and water over a slow fire. The solid blocks are usually cut into thin slices and spread over toast or eaten plain for breakfast or as a snack. You can also stuff pastries with it. We especially enjoy this quince jam with cheese, like Manchego to give a sweet contrast to the saltyness of the cheese.
Produced by Goy Widmer, a family company located in Cordoba, Argentina and specializing since 1956 in the production of jams and solid jams, they combine the finest selection of fruit with the best processes and you can be sure to expect a quality product with great taste!
