PERROTTA’S COOKED AND PREPARED CHESTNUTS with BAY AND FENNEL SEEDS are selected from the slopes of the Apennines of Irpinia, province of Avellino, a mountainous land of great natural beauty, set with pine trees and chestnuts, with a lush vegetation favored by the abundant rains which fall here during great part of the year. With a gentle and relaxing panorama and an air laced with the scents of sweet liqueur, fine wine and delicious pastries made of almond, chestnuts and honey, Irpinia offers an infinite number of gastronomic delicacies.
In the heart of Irpinia, the chestnut has been around for such a long time that it is difficult to know exactly when it arrived. According to various authors, the chestnut, which is native to Asia Minor, was introduced to this area anywhere between the sixth and fifth centuries BC. For a long time, it has been considered a precious resource, providing food and work to generations of rural people in the Avellino mountains.
Already cooked and prepared by hand, Perrottauses a traditional recipe using bay and fennel seeds, giving their chestnuts a delicate and fragrant taste. They are ready to enjoy right from the jar or you might add them to your favorite soups, stuffed and roasted meats and vegetables!
