Moderately dense, this award-winning olive oil is a forceful green, with hints of gold. Its determined character begins with its aroma: delicate fruitiness recalling fresh olives and rounding out with sweet almond aftertaste. A spicy olive oil with an underlying complexity of herbs.
Frantoia Extra Virgin olive oil is a purposeful blend of oils from west-central Sicily: approximately 40 percent from Nocellara del Belice olives, cultivated in the mountains of Palermo, with another 30 percent from Biancolilla variety olives, grown in the mountains of Agrigento, and the final 30% from Cerasuola olives from the Trapani mountains.
Harvested by hand between mid-October and mid-November, the olives are cold-pressed by traditional granite millstones within 24 hours. A process of settling in silos under controlled conditions takes place for about eight weeks.
Destined for adorning seafood, fresh cheeses, vegetable soups, and mixed salads.
